Is Your Weight in Your ‘Genes?’
How to Maximize the Success of a Weight Management Program by Addressing 3 Common Genetic Variations*

Presented by: Nathan Morris, M.D.†† and Kelly Heim, Ph.D.
Wednesday, March 22, 2017 • 4:00 p.m. EDT

Description

Genetic factors account for 40-90% of inter-individual differences in body weight. While many single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) have been associated with fat mass, food cravings, satiety and glucose disposal, only a small number are well-researched and nutritionally responsive. In this webinar, you will learn how to test for SNPs affecting critical determinants of body weight in a simple, cost-effective manner. You will also learn how to use this genetic information to tailor nutritional guidance and simplify supplement selection to guide patients to their weight management and/or metabolic health goals.*

Learning Objectives

  • Understand which SNPs limit the success of weight management protocols and how to test for them
  • Learn how to recognize good candidates for high-protein diets based on a single gene
  • Recognize how an approach tailored to APOA2 or FTO genotype can transform difficult cases into success stories
  • Understand how a common adiponectin SNP informs more precise dietary and lifestyle guidance for cardiometabolic health
  • Learn how to rapidly implement nutritional genomics in your practice using the PureGenomics® web application, with no need to retest your patients
